Fr\u00fcher galt der Zusammenbruch der gro\u00dfen atlantischen Meereszirkulation (Volksmund: Golfstrom) als hochgef\u00e4hrliches, aber unwahrscheinliches Szenario. Doch neue Klimadaten und verbesserte Klimamodelle zeigen: Das Risiko f\u00fcr das Erreichen dieses Kipppunktes ist dramatisch gestiegen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die Folgen f\u00fcr Europa w\u00e4ren katastrophal und k\u00f6nnten schon in den n\u00e4chsten Jahrzehnten eintreten. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die atlantische Meereszirkulation transportiert gro\u00dfe Mengen W\u00e4rme nach Europa und sorgt so f\u00fcr unser vergleichsweise mildes Klima. F\u00e4llt sie aus, droht Nordeuropa eine Abk\u00fchlung um mehrere Grad. In Norddeutschland w\u00fcrde sich durch Erreichen des Kipppunkts die Zahl der Frosttage stark erh\u00f6hen. Zugleich n\u00e4hme der Temperaturunterschied zwischen Nord- und S\u00fcdeuropa drastisch zu. Die Folge k\u00f6nnten\u00a0 st\u00e4rkere St\u00fcrme und Niederschl\u00e4ge in Europa sein.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dieses Szenario gilt heute nicht mehr als unwahrscheinlich, sondern als realistische Gefahr.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nur durch einen Kurs konsequenten Klimaschutzes l\u00e4sst sich dieses Schreckensszenario noch mit hoher Wahrscheinlichkeit verhindern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Der weltweit bekannte und f\u00fchrende Ozeanograph und Klimaforscher Prof. Stefan Rahmstorf<\/strong> forscht seit \u00fcber 30 Jahren zu diesem Thema. In diesem Europe Calling Webinar wird er den aktuellen Forschungsstand allgemeinverst\u00e4ndlich darstellen. Es moderieren Sven Giegold und Maximilian Fries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
